Plug & Charge

What is Plug & Charge and how does it work?

Plug & Charge (P&C) lets your EV start charging automatically as soon as you plug it in.

Once it’s set up, the charger recognises your car and securely confirms your charging account in the background, so charging begins straight away without needing any apps or RFIDS.

Plug & Charge on a global standard and uses secure technology (ISO 15118) to safely exchange digital certificates between your car and the charger.

What is a Plug & Charge certificate?

A Plug & Charge certificate (sometimes called a Plug & Charge contract) is a digital credential that enables secure, automatic authentication between your EV, the ChargeNet app, and the charger. It acts as your charging agreement, allowing charging to start automatically when you plug in.

There is no additional cost to set up or use a Plug & Charge certificate. Each certificate represents one charging agreement, and a single vehicle can have multiple certificates, allowing multiple users or accounts to use Plug & Charge on the same car.
